Cheney Schools Reduce Obesity Rates

Communities In Schools’ Wellness Coordinator, Laura Martin, helped Cheney Public Schools significantly reduce obesity rates in just two years. Martin credits success to healthy scratch cooking, healthy classroom habits, and increased physical activity in PE and recess. Martin’s policy changes in Cheney schools were made possible through a multi-year grant through Empire Health Foundation Grant received in 2011.
